A Trusted Name in Post-Surgery Care

FROM SPECIALIZED BRAS TO CUSTOM PROSTHETICS,

DISCOVER HOW THIS LOCAL BUSINESS IS TRANSFORMING LIVES

Fran’s Nu Image, nestled in Waldorf, MD, has been a beacon of hope and support for women dealing with the aftermath of breast cancer surgery for nearly four decades.

Founded in 1984 by Fran, a breast cancer survivor, the business began when she recognized the urgent need for a local provider of mastectomy products. At the time, Fran was working at a pharmacy, which offered her a small space to sell her products. As demand quickly grew, she expanded the business and moved into her own location. Since then, Fran’s Nu Image has evolved into a comprehensive service provider for women seeking specialized bras, prosthetics, and other essential products.

The Heart Behind Fran’s Nu Image

When Fran passed away in 1991, her legacy lived on through the hands of dedicated owners who ensured that the business continued to meet the needs of women in Maryland and surrounding areas. However, it was in 2008 that Fran’s Nu Image entered a new chapter under the ownership of Mini Quade.

Despite initially feeling unprepared, Mini’s passion for helping women on their breast cancer journey drove her to purchase the business and continue Fran’s mission. With a background in medical supplies and equipment, Mini brought with her a wealth of experience in medical billing and fitting compression products.

Comprehensive Services For Women

Fran’s Nu Image is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for its clients by providing exceptional service and top-tier products. With a focus on delivering comfortable and effective orthotic and prosthetic solutions, the company uses advanced technology and high-quality materials to ensure each woman receives the care she deserves.

Additional products include pre-and post-surgical fittings for bras and camisoles, breast forms for all lifestyles, a wig salon, and specialized apparel. They also offer mastectomy swimwear, compression hosiery, and custom-fitted garments for managing lymphedema, ensuring that every woman who walks through their doors can find what she needs to feel comfortable, supported, and confident.

The welcoming and supportive environment at Fran’s Nu Image ensures women feel safe and cared for throughout their experience.

Whether it’s before, during, or after treatment, Fran’s Nu Image provides the resources and products women need to maintain their confidence and self-image.

A key service provided by Fran’s Nu Image is the fitting of external silicone breast prostheses. These weighted prostheses, designed to simulate natural breast tissue, offer more than just aesthetic benefits — they help improve posture, prevent shoulder drop, and reduce balance issues.

Fran’s Nu Image wig boutique offers a premium selection of wigs with a variety of scarves, sleep caps and hats.

Overcoming Hesitation

“Many women hesitate to come in because they don’t know what to expect,” Mini explains. “They’re already dealing with the physical and emotional toll of a mastectomy, and the idea of getting fitted for a breast prosthesis can be overwhelming. We understand that anxiety, and we’re here to make the process as comfortable and supportive as possible.”

While Fran’s Nu Image is renowned for its work with women who have undergone mastectomies, the business also serves women who haven’t had breast cancer but are in search of a properly fitting bra. Many women experience discomfort and pain due to ill-fitting bras, and the team at Fran’s Nu Image is skilled at helping them find the right fit, alleviating their discomfort almost instantly.
